Tony George on Wind Tunnel/ No One Hates Robin Miller/ Danica Patrick to Visit Former Boss
Tony George on Wind Tunnel
Tony George was a guest on Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain on SPEED tonight. Tony George talked with Despain about the early planning for a potential Moto GP race at Indy. George said the track’s road course would be change slightly for Motor GP and F1. The first race at Indy was a motorcycle race. Then Dave Despain asked about the future of open wheel racing in the United States after reading emails from a few irritated “fans.”
George responded saying, “If I could wave a magic wand and make it all right I would but that is impossible.”
Dave Despain also asked about reunification and his relationship with CCWS boss Kevin Kalkhoven, “We stay in touch. We agreed that we would not be sticking dagger in each other’s back.” Tony George went on to tell Dave Despain that reunification will not come next year but would not rule it out in a few years.
No One Hates Robin Miller
Either you like him or you hate Robin Miller right? Not necessarily true for Tony George. Miller has said before in Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain he believes that Tony George hates him. At the end of the interview, George asked Despain for just a moment to say something. The founder of the IRL wanted to make it very clear that he does not hate Robin Miller.
“I don’t necessarily like Robin or the approach he takes to journalism,” said George. “But I do appreciate though that he speaks with a lot of passion and insight but under no circumstances should people believe that I hate Robin Miller.”
It takes a lot of guts to come on Wind Tunnel when you know you are going to get peppered with the question of reunification. But I was more impressed about George’s statement about Robin Miller. Tony George did not have to bring that up or even make a comment about it. That was a first class move by TG.
This episode of Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain is scheduled to reair at Monday 10am Eastern time.
