The IndyCar Series Just Got More Exciting/ Danica the Perfume/ Charlotte, Officially the Racing Center of the US/ Dave Gets Pied

The IndyCar Series Just Got More Exciting
Former World of Outlaws driver PJ Chesson will reportedly drive the No. 91 in the IRL IndyCar Series this season with backing from Gene Simmons. Yes that Gene Simmons from KISS. Simmon’s marketing agency is molding the image of the IRL this season. Grabbing the lightning in a bottle that is Chesson coul;d provide some memorable moments for the series this season.

Danica the Perfume
Speaking on stuff in a bottle. Speedtv.com is reporting that Danica Patrick is working on an endorsement deal for a perfume.

IPS Closes Out Homestead Testing
The Indy Racing League wrapped up testing at Homestead today with Indy Pro Series drivers on track. Newcomer Jay Howard topped the time sheet at 28.4738 seconds, 187.752 mph. Jaime Camara was second quick. Wade Cunningham turned in the third fastest time.

Charlotte, Officially the Racing Center of the US
If you haven’t noticed, over the last few years the US racing center of the universe has shifted to Charlotte, North Carolina.

To no one’s surprise, NASCAR announced that the NASCAR metroplex (aka Charlotte) will host their Hall of Fame. Let me dig a little deeper here. Charlotte is the new Nashville. For BNA it was the music industry and TNN. For CLT, it is NASCAR and SPEED that are bringing glamour to the Queen City. Charlotte and the surrounding area must be ready for downfall of NASCAR. It may not happen in the immediate future, but all things eventually come to and end and like Nashville, Charlotte must have a backup plan for its economy.

Who is Drew Johnson?
So who is this guy.

He co-anchored SPEED news this past weekend and co hosted the Charlotte announcement. He isn’t bad but I will take Bob Jenkins over the kid any day. Maybe I am getting too old but this guy looks quite green compared to his peers at SPEED. Speaking of his peers, SPEED has reshuffled their talent lineup for 2006. I will hit on that story another day.

One of the Greatest Baseball Players of My Lifetime
One of the greatest baseball players of my lifetime passed away today. I am not a true baseball fan, just a casual observer. Kirby Puckett made me care about baseball and care about the Twins. If I watch baseball today, I look for the Twins. All because of Mr. Puckett. He was the Twins. Thoughts and prayers with his family.

Dave Gets Pied

Emma Thompson pied Open Wheeler Owner David Letterman

Monday night on his show, Late Night with David Letterman.

Being a good sport, she let him pie her back.

I love Late Night with David Letterman.
