Copper World Moves to November in 2007 8:45am

WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Phoenix International Raceway announced that the Copper World Classic will move to November in 2007. The historic Open Wheel event will be paired with the NASCAR weekend and is scheduled for Thursday November 8, 2007. The event will remain a USAC National Midget Series and Silver Crown show but should enjoy larger crowds being paired with a NASCAR “Chase” weekend. Since the event was moved back to January a few years ago and paired with a NASCAR regional series, the attendance has appeared to drop. The track believes and I agree that the new date should bring larger crowds which should benefit USAC drivers, teams and sponsors. I will miss the winter date as it always drew media attention but the new date should draw as much attention or more. The 2007 Copper World Classic will be run under the lights in it’s 30th year.

I am off to shoot photos of midgets and Silver Crown.
