Kaeding Wins Championship, Pierce the Race 6:45pm
KANSAS CITY, Kansas – Aaron Pierce won the race but Bud Kaeding won the championship today at Kansas Speedway. Kaeding came into the race with ignition problems but with a little help from a Richard Childress Racing crew member, the No. 29 ran good enough to clinch the championship. Brian Tyler’s No. 21 experienced mechanical problems near the end of the race. Tyler would finish second in the points. Aaron Pierce started from the pole and led most of the laps. The Phoenix native battled with Pablo Donoso late in the race but won the battle. Pierce finish second in the drivers points. Jay Drake finished second at Kansas. The veteran USAC driver started last but drove to the front only to get loose in another car’s oil and slide back. Drake powered back to finish second. Wayne Reutiman Jr. battled a car that was not perfect but the Florida native was able to finesse the car around the track to finish third.
