NASCAR Raceday on Speed

NASCAR Raceday on Speed
NASCAR Raceday has brought out great nuggets on your favorite Open Wheelers.

Wendy Venturini interviewed Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman on the new team and having so much in common from open wheel racing to hunting. It was a nice sit down interview that Speed does so well in their pre race coverage.

Ken Squire talked about CBS’s efforts to bring racing to the fans with the big in car cameras. Squire noted that the crews weren’t happy about carrying the heavy camera but they understood the importance of exposure.

Ken Squire also produced a look back at the first high banked Daytona 500. The piece was well written and sent chills up my spine. If you can find it out there on the web or at SpeedTV.com, it is definitely worth a look.

Wendy V caught up with A.J. Allmendinger who admitted that he cried after learning that he solidified himself in the field at Daytona for the 500. You could tell that A.J. was all giddy about the race. It is too bad reunification had not come before he left for fendered land.
Time for Picks
Speed always does a good job talking about subjects like to know about at home and they make the views feel like their friends by making picks at every race. The picks are below but I think Wendy Venturini is the closest to being right.

NASCAR on Speed picks to with the Daytona 500
Jimmy Bill Elliott
Kenny Jeff Gordon
JR Jamie McMurry
Hermie Sadler Juan Pablo Montoya
Wendy V Mark Martin

The weather is a little bit questionable but the latest radar shows the R word going north and south of the track. I am optimistic that they will get this in today.

Ok, Coverage on Speed is over, now on to FOX…
