Tracey Defends Home Turf/ Do We Really Care F1?/ The Return of Fisch Face/ The Fight/ Racing Remote
Tracy Defends Home Turf
Fireball Paul Tracy will defend his home turf this weekend racing in the NASCAR Busch Series. The native Canadian will also be featured in the April 2006 edition of Racer Magazine. The article on Page 56 talks about Tracy’s career and his slide towards NASCAR.
Do We Really Care?
F1 opens up another season this weekend in Bahrain but do we really care? F1 seems to not care about the US with the lack of drivers open to US interviews and little coverage. I won’t even rehash the F1 = FU debacle at Indy. Scott Speed is F1’s only hope, that and a lot of, “We are sorry Indy.” I don’t see that coming. I haven’t seen an on camera interview yet talking with Speed or any other drivers about the 2006 season. I guess they don’t care and the majority of Americans don’t care.
Fish Face at Indy?
Speed.com is reporting that Sarah Fisher could be in an IRL car for the Indy 500. Right now the former IRL driver is working on landing a full time gig in the Busch Series.
Indy NOT for Sale
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is NOT for sale period. Both TracksideOnline.com and Robin Miller at Speedtv.com have reported that the rumor is NOT true.
Stinkin Rumors
Speaking of rumors, Miller went on a very educational rant today in his column at speedtv.com. The good guy discloses how a good reporter gathers information, weeds through rumors and finds what hopefully is the truth to report. If you read anything online this week, you need to read his column titled Indy Rumors. In the column, he also predicts how IMS head Tony George will allegedly pony up cash to get to 33 cars bringing back Al Unser Jr., Sarah Fisher and Arie Luynedyk Jr. No word if he will slip AJ Foyt greenbacks so Tex can bump a Luynedyk again.
“The Fight” Makes the List
A moment that will like with me forever will be the fight between Arie Luynedyk and AJ Foyt in victory lane at Texas Motor Speedway. It was my first IRL race to see in person. The fight also made a mark on Texas Motor Speedway. The track featured a photo of the fisticuffs on the back cover of their 2006 Motorsports Resource Guide. The guide also features Sam Hornish’s win by a nose to claim the IRL Championship as well as an image of then Governor George Busch waving the green flag and Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s first Cup win.
