Tony! Tony! Tony!
That is what the crowd chanted following Tony Stewart’s repeat victory at Daytona. It was one year ago that Stewart began his drive to the Championship with the win at Daytona.
A late caution flag on the last lap gave Stewart the win when the field was frozen. But that really didn’t matter to the fans who mobbed the Open Wheeler after
he made his signature fince climb into the flag stands. Tony Stewart led more times than any other driver tonight.
Several other Open Wheelers were having a good night until Greg Biffle got loose in front of JJ Yeley and he turned
Biffle into Mark Martin taking out Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon.
It is important to note that it was Kyle Busch that pushed Stewart to the front before the yellow flag came out.
Mosh Pit
Tony Stewart didn’t realize what he got himself into. Admitting to FOX in victory lane that following his fence climb, he thought he could just climb down out of the flag stand into the mobscene below and exit out of the gate that is usually under the flagstand at most tracks.
Tony must not have surveyed the scene very well because it to law enforcement officers, NASCAR officials and Tony’s crew playing offensive line (think football)
to get the Open Wheeler to a hole in the fence so he could get to victory lane. Oh yea, check out these brilliand people climbing the fence too.
You gotta love drunk racefans.
