Not So Fast Week One
Not So Fast Week One
It is finally here, college football season. Time for the return of Not So Fast. Typically on opening week we see good programs take on great programs in what usually turns into a lopsided affair but you never know. On opening weekend, anything can happen.
Marshall at West Virginia. Marshall is supposed to be up this year. Some people are predicting West Virginia to be in the running for the national title. If WV is to be the champs, they must make it past their pesky instate rivals. West Virginia by 10 or less.
Cal at UTK. Give Phil Fulmer credit, unlike Minnesota who opens with Kent State, UTK is playing a good school. This will be a good test to see if the offense has shaken off their demons from a year ago. UTK will be better this season. Cal will play them close but UTK will win in the end by 7 or better.
Southern Miss at Florida. The questions as to how good these two teams are could be quickly answered this weekend. Southern Miss will bring a good defense, Florida... well they have the coach, players and the swamp. Advantage Florida but this will not be a blowout. Florida by 12 or less.
USC at Arkansas. This is the biggest game in Fayetteville in a long time. The Hogs look to rebound after a tough few years and USC plans to show that they haven’t stumbled. USC is not as good as they once where but Arkansas will not win the National Championship either. USC by 7ish.
Kentucky at Louisville. I love cross state rivalries. The Cardinals are the other favorite in the Big Least. A stumble here and a potential national title is gone. But not so fast! Louisville is not going to choke on opening weekend. Cards by 15.
Game of the Week
Florida State at Miami. Many college football gurus are convinced that either Miami or Florida State will win the national title. Miami looks strong and will probably have their way with their conference. Will they have their way in Tallahassee? Not So Fast! The coeds in the stands and Lee Corso’s college roommate Burt Reynolds will make sure that will not happen. No title for Miami this season as Bobby Bowden gets it done winning by 10ish.
