Chick Fight Round 2/ Kasey Kahne’s Girlfriend/ Eldora Speedway’s Return to TV?/ ESPN Revs Up Racing Program
Chick Fight Round Two
Arguably the most memorable moment of the Cup race Sunday did not involve Open Wheelers. In fact it really didn’t involve drivers. Greg Biffle’s girlfriend Nicole Lunders decided to pay a visit to the No. 2’s pit box and Kurt Busch’s fiancée, Eva Bryan following Busch’s rear-ending of Biffle.
While no punches were thrown, it appeared, watching FOX’s broadcast that the two better halves exchanged words. While it wouldn’t be a good idea to see folks charging into others pits on raceday, it would make for good TV and rating of FOX followed up on this story when the series runs Phoenix in two weeks.
Kasey Kahne’s Girlfriend, Kasey Kahne’s Girlfriend, Kasey Kahne’s Girlfriend
We received a TON of hits this weekend from people, probably teenage girls, Googleing the words “Kasey Kahne’s Girlfriend.” I don’t know if the two time 2006 Cup winner has a girlfriend,(really is it our business?) but if I come across her, I will let you know. Kasey Kahne’s girlfriend is NOT Erin Crocker. As we reported earlier this season, Crocker is often mistaken for his girlfriend at Dodge driver autograph sessions.
Eldora Speedway’s Return to TV?
General Motors PR department sat down for a question and answer session with Tony Stewart over the weekend. Over the next few days, we will feature articles from the Q&A session:
Eldora Speedway owner Tony Stewart is laying the groundwork for put his track back on TV.
“We are trying to work with SPEED and the Outdoor Channel to see if we can get more TV races at Eldora at some point,” said Stewart. “I think with the sponsorships that are coming in, that can help us bring TV to the facility and make it a bigger event for our sponsors. We don't have anything currently planned. What we have been mainly focused on last year and this year are what improvements we can make to the facility to dress it up and make it when we get TV there, we can make a huge impression.”
Currently World of Outlaws Sprint Series events as well as the USAC sanctioned Four Crown Nationals are slated for the Outdoor Channel as part of the sanctioning body’s taped broadcast programs.
Carl Edwards 10th in ASCS Action
Carl Edwards finished 10th in the ASCS Sooner Region action at the Cowtown Speedway quarter-mile dirt track Saturday night.
Jeff Gordon Almost “0” for Phoenix
Jeff Gordon has been very successful in his racing career but he has never won at Phoenix International Raceway in a Cup race. He did win the Copper World Classic Silver Crown race there in 1991. He has also never won at Texas Motor Speedway, Chicagoland and is 0 for 7 at Homestead.
ESPN Revs Up Racing Program
ESPN.com is reporting that ESPN will take their coverage of NASCAR to a new level when the racing series return to the network in 2007. Expect to see more coverage of NASCAR as well as other forms of auto racing in the forms of studio shows, analysis and a heavy online presence. ESPN president George Bodenheimer was at Texas Motor Speedway this past weekend for the race. He also visited the Kentucky IRL race prior to ESPN/ABC’s upgrades in coverage for 2006. ESPN and ABC will broadcast 17 Cup races beginning in 2007 as part of an eight-year contract.
