Helio Castroneves Wins St. Petersburg
Spiderman went climbing in Florida again, this time it was his first IndyCar Series road course win. Dario Franchitti looked like the car to beat coming into the race but mechanical issues ended his day. There was a lot of rubbing on the track.
One incident that occurred took out 2005 champ Dan Weldon. He tried to get back into position under caution but unfortunately he ran over Sam Hornish’s car. Marco Andretti went out with a drive shaft problem. PJ Chesson suffered problems as well, spinning out in his first road course race.
Buddy Rice and Tomas Scheckter got together to bring out the final yellow flag.
The accident happened too late for the safety team to quickly clean up the wreck and Castroneves crossed the line under the yellow/ checkered flag.

Heads Up
IndyCar Series driver have placed their names on top of their helmets so viewers at home can tell which driver is which.
Driving Car Melo
ESPN 360 will feature P.J. Chesson, Carmelo Anthony
and the No. 91 Hemelgarn Racing team on a program that is set to air on ESPN 360, an online television channel from the folks at ESPN.com.
Fence Climbers
Both Helio Castroneves and Tony Stewart climbed the fence after their wins and you almost missed seeing both live.
ESPN appeared to prepare to go to commercial break when they noticed Castroneves beginning to climb from his car.
The folks in the truck had the good sense to stay with the situation a little while longer and captured on of the best victory celebrations in the IRL. The FOX folks, who were having a bad day, showed Stewart stopping
and beginning to climb out of his car but had to show tape of Stewart climbing the Martinsville fence after the commercial break.
FOX is a leader in sports broadcasting but between missing an exciting moment like Tony Stewart climbing the fence and their audio problems, it was a bad broadcast.
FOX Audio Problems Again
One week after allowing profanity to slip across the broadcast airwaves, the award winning FOX broadcast staff had audio difficulties. This us quite unlike FOX who are the innovators of racing surround sound. The FOX technicians have won several Emmy and other awards since the network began broadcasting NASCAR events.
Tony Stewart wins Martinsville
Tony Stewart beat fellow Open Wheeler, Jeff Gordon Sunday in the Cup race at Martinsville. Stewart battled Jimmy Johnson late in the race but came away with the win. Like Saturday’s Busch race, Open Wheelers took the brunt of the ugly stick.
Kurt Busch sent Robby Gordon around at Martinsville.
Open Wheelers Cup Results

2. Jeff Gordon
16. Carl Edwards
17. Dave Blaney
