Indy or CCWS?/ Sam Hornish Hits Wall/ Mary Roth Ax/ Medeiros 33rd to Qualify/ Wallace Burns Out/ Stacy Keibler Likes NASCAR?

Indy or CCWS?
Hmm, what to watch? Champ Car World Series is running head to head with Bump Day at Indy. What should I watch? Time to break out the remote and try to catch both.

Click – Over to SPEED. Surprise, surprise, Sebastien Bourdais is on the pole. Waiting for the start.

Click - Now to Indy and ABC. Danica Patrick felt something funny and pulled the car in. Turns out her car was leaking badly. The ABC commentators spent a good deal of time saying how smart she must be to know to pull the car in. Hey guys, she is not a rookie anymore. I would hope all IRL drivers would know their cars that well. Enough of this.

Click – Green flag.

Is it me or does Nelson Philippe (image courtesy of CCWS) look like Fabio?

(image courtesy of Phil Sheather and fabioifc.com) Anywho, Philippe gets together with his teammate and is done for the day before making a complete lap.

Time to find a modeling job buddy.

Click - Meanwhile over on ABC, PJ Chesson is getting another tattoo.

The new tat is a copy of the 2006 Indy 500 logo. You know those are permanent don’t you PJ? Meanwhile Thiago Medeiros was on the track earlier today and will qualify later today. Rusty Wallace is known for one-liners and saying “those cats” and “hot rod.” Wallace pulled a classic today when he was commenting on Marty Roth spinning several times at Indy this month.

“He’s been spending more time cleaning his shorts out than on the track racing.”

Click - Back at Monterrey, Bourdais is still in charge.

Katherine “Nice” Legge spun but is back at it again.

Click - On ABC Helio Castroneves is taking the 500 Festival Princesses on a tour of the track.

He explained the importance of turn three. In 2002 Helio lifted for the caution and Paul Tracy kept on going. The IRL later determined that the yellow came out before Tracy passed Helio and the new “bus driver” was declared the winner.

The princesses asked the Brazilian what he thinks of Tony Stewart climbing fences. He said it is an expression of joy and if Tony feels that same joy that is great.

One asked if he gets speeding tickets. He says he get as a lot of tickets in Miami. The segment ended when the gals asked if Helio has a girlfriend.

He said yes to a chorus of aww’s from the princesses.

Click – Back to SPEED. Nicky Pastrorelli was black flagged for blocking. Now we have a yellow for debris on back straightaway. Pits open and Justin Wilson beats Sea Bass out of the pits.

Click – Back to Indy where AJ Foyt says there will be no third Foyt car on the track for the 500. If you believe that, then I have a racing league with the initials CCWS to sell you. The Foyt team will instead concentrate on making their two cars go faster. ABC signs off for the day.

Click – Now over to SPEED for the rest of the CCWS race. Bruno Junqueira is black flagged for blocking Paul Tracy. I’m sure Tracy let him know what he did. Halfway point. Justin Wilson still in the lead followed by AJ Allmendinger and Sea Bass. Final pitstops are going on and the lead is changing hands with 20 laps to go. Bourdais still in the lead but Wilson is closing. Show Some Legge was black flagged for blocking “Speedy” Dan Clarke but no penalty.

Seven laps to go and no Michelle Biesner. Come on folks, do you really think I tuned on to watch a race or see Biesner prance around reporting on mindless trackside activities.

Wait, I must have been distracted by looking for images of Michelle Biesner (I didn’t know she was a Denver Broncos cheerleader.) and now we have 3 laps to go.

Sea Bass has gained a huge lead.

Guess what, Sebastien Bourdais wins as Katherine “Nice” Legge spins. Justin Wilson finished second and AJ Allmendinger came in third. Paul Tracy finished fourth. Sebastien’s new wife showed up in victory lane. See what happened in Victory Lane by visiting out sister site http://tvvictorylane.blogspot.com/.

(Note: CCWS doesn’t list the first names of their drivers in their results. I don’t feel like spending all day to look up the spelling of their driver’s names. Once they change their format to make it more friendly to new fans, I will post the full results.)

Sam Hornish Hits Wall
During practice for the Indy 500 today, Sam Hornish hit the wall damaging his "T" car. Hornish claimed his first Indy 500 pole Saturday.

A disappointed driver told ESPN that the back end snapped around on him and he felt terrible about damaging the backup car. Just before the accident, Hornish still had the best speed of the day at 226.256mph.

Marty Roth Ax
Marty Roth got up into the gray and made impact with the wall on a test run.

Roth was going to attempt to qualify if the test run went well. The Canadian is done for the month of May but fortunately he was not injured in the accident.

Medeiros 33rd to Qualify

Thiago Medeiros strapped in his rebuilt car and turned in a time good enough to start in the Indy 500. Medeiros then had to play the waiting game. AJ Foyt’s 3rd car never took time and Marty Roth’s unfortunate accident put him in the field.

Wallace Burns Out
When Stephen Wallace won the ARCA race last weekend at Kentucky we reported that he set fire to the grass.

Apparently that was not totally the case. During a post race burnout, Wallace’s tires so much rubber at such a hi temperature

that the rubber caught fire.

Stacy Keibler Likes NASCAR?

Am I going blind or is that Stacy Keibler in the NASCAR.com commercials?

In the commercial, she is the bride at a wedding shower and gets NASCAR gifts and is thrilled.
