Nice Weather at Chicagoland Speedway
JOLIET, Ill. – Well hello everyone from Chicagoland Speedway and welcome to our coverage of the USG Fiberock 100. USAC Silver Crown teams moved in today under clear skies and comfortable temps and that are the expected for the rest of the week. It doesn’t get any better than this weather wise. Hoosier Tires Midwest showed off their new truck today.
Teams spent the day unloading and working on their cars while the Busch and Cup haulers parked. There is already a large number of fans that have gathered for this weekend’s activities. The fans in the infield know how to have a good time and have erected elaborate setups in the infield.
I was able to spend some time there this evening and they had a good time but didn’t get too crazy. Tomorrow will be a long day beginning at 8am with the driver’s meeting. The teams have their only practice session of the day at 9am and qualifying at 10:45am. USAC will then take a break so NASCAR’s Cup and Busch Series can take the track. The USAC Silver Crown Series race is scheduled for 6:20pm. I have added photos to our photo gallery of action from today. http://www.flickr.com/photos/92448439@N00/sets/72057594134006261/ See you tomorrow beginning at 9am.

Hollywood is here this weekend with Will Ferrell who is shamelessly promoting the movie, Talladega Nights. The movie company has logoed up this car and has purchased advertising around the speedway.
Ferrell will be taking a spin in the dreaded segment Wally's World. That part of the NBC broadcast features celebrities going around the speedway in a two seater screaming their heads off. The most pointless segment of the broadcast if you ask me. Never fear though, NBC begins it’s final season of broadcasting NASCAR races Sunday. TNT’s portion of the season begins Saturday with the Busch Series. This week, the Goodyear Blimp will provide the eagle eye shots. The TNT NASCAR announcing stable will include Bill Weber (pre-race host and play-by-play), Benny Parsons (analyst), Wally Dallenbach (analyst), Allen Bestwick (pit reporter), Dave Burns (pit reporter), Marty Snider (pit reporter) and Matt Yocum (pit reporter).
