Where is AJ Foyt IV and Tracy Hines?
We mentioned earlier this week that Jason Leffler and AJ Foyt would share the Great Clips sponsorship for the rest of the season.
What we didn’t know is that the No. 38 team’s schedule will be reduced this season. Foyt’s best finish was 21st at Mexico. He is currently 34th in points.
Tracy Hines is not in the No. 14 this weekend because he was bumped out of the seat by Steadman Marlin, son of Sterling Marlin.
Marlin was able to bring sponsorship dollars in a partnership with Earl Sadler and Sons Racing and Sadler Bros. Trucking. The Marlin family is from the Nashville metro area. The FitzBradshaw release does not say whether we can expect Tracy Hines back in the No. 14 later this year. It also is not conclusive if the Marlin deal is for the rest of the season.
98 or 9 for Erin Crocker
It may be a little confusing but Erin Crocker’s car is listed as the No. 9 this weekend and actually painted the No. 98.
It is locked in the race because of the No. 9’s good status in the points but for sponsorship reasons, NASCAR has allowed the team to use the No. 98 on the car but the points will go to the No. 9 team. It doesn’t make sense but I guess that is racing.
Join us later today for a recap of both the Busch and ARCA Re/Max Series races at Nashville.
