Aaron Fike’s Chances at Richmond/ Dave Blaney=Consistancy/ Indy 500 Drivers/ Erin Crocker and Veronica McCann Tied for Lead
Aaron Fike has a Good Chance at First NASCAR Win
Combine 2001 Richmond Silver Crown winner Aaron Fike with 2003 Richmond winning team, Curb-Agajanian Motorsports and you have a chance for the first true non-Buschwacker win of the season. The 2001 USAC Silver Crown rookie of the year takes the No. 43 team to the track where he became USAC youngest Silver Crown winner this weekend.
“Richmond is always going to be special track for me,” said Fike. “Coming back to a track where you’ve won before gives you a little something extra to hang your hat on. We had a pretty decent test at Richmond in the 43 car, which should put us a little ahead of the game when we start practice on Friday morning.”
While Fike and his team know their way to victory lane at Richmond, they must qualify their way into the race to have a chance to revisit the winner’s circle.
“It’s a little nerve-wracking for the team, the sponsors, everybody, to have to qualify our way in. So far, we’ve been up to the task!”
Fike is 29th in drivers points but the No. 43 team is 34th in owners points. To automatically qualify for a Busch race, a team must be in the top 30 in owner’s points.
Dave Blaney Mr. Consistency
Dave Blaney has been running at the finish in 27 consecutive Cup races, more than any other driver.
Indy 500 Drivers
Curt Calvin of the Indianapolis Star http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060503/SPORTS01/605030517/1052 brakes down what other drivers are out there who have not been announced to run the Indy 500. Calvin Sarah Fisher was thinking about Indy but will remain on the left coast to pursue her fendered career, maybe in ARCA. USAC drivers Jimmy Kite and Jason Leffler have been mentioned as potential drivers. On driver that I think should get a chance at it is Brian Tyler. The only reason Tyler didn’t start the 500 a few years ago, was money. Someone who had more cash bumped him. If someone has a empty car and is looking for a driver, Brian Tyler is a good as anyone.
Danica Patrick Correction
Danica Patrick will appear on the “Late Night with David Letterman” program Wednesday night, (not Tuesday as previously reported). We will attempt to have a recap with screen grabs for tomorrow’s update.
Erin Crocker and Veronica McCann Tied Up for the Lead
Danica Patrick may have the media’s attention this week with her book tour but she is not leading in the polls for “race babe.”
Erin Crocker and
Veronica McCann are tied for the lead as of this morning. TV beauties, Connie LeGrand, Krista Voda and Jamie Little are tied for second.
Danica Patrick is tied for third with
the ladies from the Kasey Kahne commercial
we call Van O Babes, DeLana Harvick and
Champ Car’s Michelle Biesner. Vote for your favorite “race babe” by scrolling to the bottom of this page.
