Big Program Tonight
As the great Lance Russell one said, “Ok Davey, we’ve got a big show tonight.” The lineup for tonight’s Auto Sport show looks like a who’s who of racing. COO of the IRL, Brian Barnhart will answer questions heading into the league’s biggest month. Dennis Reinbold is expected to talk about his team as well as the 500 Festival. The man who will run the 2006 Hoosier Hundred, Bob Sargent, from Track Enterprises will be there to talk about the historic event and what went into saving it. He is also expected to talk about his other two big Silver Crown races he promotes at DuQuion and Springfield. The program can be heard on Monks Media.
Open Wheelers go Fendered this Weekend
Kevin Swindell and Josh Wise are scheduled to drive in the ARCA Re/Max Series race Sunday at Winchester, Indiana. According to an ARCA release, the two Dodge development drivers will pilot 2005 and 2006 Dodge Chargers.
Swindell will drive for Evernham and first time ARCA starter, Wise for Dodge Motorsports. Kevin Swindell made his first ever ARCA start last month, finishing 14th. Qualifying is scheduled for 12:30pm and the 200-lap race is scheduled for 2:30pm. The event is not televised.
Snap-on Returns to the WoO
It seems like it was only yesterday that you knew you were at a World of Outlaws event when you would see the shiny Snap-on Tools trucks pacing around the dirt track. Today, DIRT MotorSports™ announced that Snap-on would sponsor the World of Outlaws Sprints Crew Chief of the Year Award. I wonder if they will bring back the trucks? Snap-on sponsored Shane Stewart’s No. 26 sprint car at last year’s Knoxville Nationals. The diecast version is now on sale at several stores and on the internet.
Kasey Kahne not behind the Wheel Today
According to an article by Bob Pockrass in the Scene Daily, Kasey Kahne will have to get medical clearance before testing this week at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The Open Wheeler crashed early in the race at Talladega Monday. The article said the No. 9 hauler was at Charlotte but was not on the track Tuesday. Pockrass reports that Kasey Kahne says he will be in the car testing on Wednesday. Kahne won his first Cup race at Richmond last Season.
