Reutimann Wins Exciting Race 3:30pm
WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Wayne Reutimann Jr. won an energy packed USAC Silver Crown race today at the Milwaukee Mile. The race had wheel to wheel action in the final laps that brought the fans to their feet and also had a little bit of controversy. Josh Wise started on the pole of the event and led the way for the first 13 laps. On the restart Bud Kaeding took the lead away from Wise. The two time Silver Crown winner this season held onto the lead until last year’s winner Dave Steele took the lead on lap 35. Steele would go on to dominate the next 51 laps before teammate Brian Tyler took the lead on lap 87. Two laps later, Steele’s engine gave up its ghost. On the restart, Tyler would do battle with Aaron Pierce with the Indiana native taking the lead only to have the Michigan native charge back and regain the lead one lap later. On the final lap, Pierce and Tyler made contact in turn three with Brian Tyler going for a spin. Aaron Pierce finished the race in first but was penalized one lap for unsportsmanlike conduct. That gave the win to Wayne Reutimann Jr. Reutimann started the race in 6th and patiently worked his way to the front waiting for an opportunity.
“If you work hard and are in the right position, sometimes the ball falls your way,” said the Florida native.
Wayne Reutimann Jr. gave credit to his sponsors for giving him a chance to live his dream.
“If it weren’t for my sponsors, I’d be your local parts distributor,” Reutimann said. “By the grace of God, they gave me the support and helped me be a racecar driver.”
Brian Tyler was credited with second place and Dave Darland finished third, a best for his team this season. Full results can be viewed in the Live Trackside portion of the RE Technologies Racing website http://www.retechracing.com/. Tyler is now tied with Bud Kaeding in the points race. Wayne Reutimann Jr. is in third in points. The USAC Silver Crown Series presented by K&N will tackle the shortest paved oval of the year on August 3rd during the J.D. Byrider 100 at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.
