Hines Wins at DuQuoin – 9:45pm
DuQuoin, Ill. – Tracy Hines made it two in a row tonight winning the Ted Horn 100 for the second year here at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. Hines started on the pole but was Shane Cottle charged to the front when the green flag dropped. Cottle and Hines would battle throughout the evening. Johnny Parsons started 22nd but quickly moved towards the front. The veteran was running in 3rd on lap 18 when his car broke. Jerry Coons Jr. spun on the resulting caution ending his evening and dropping the No. 199 team from the third place position in the owners points. On lap 24, Tracy Hines retook the lead. Earlier in the day Bud Kaeding’s crew were working on the car. The team missed practice and started 24th. By lap 24 second in points, Kaeding and the points leader Brian Tyler were battling it out for 12th. Cottle got around Hines to regain the lead but Hines got it right back on lap 42. With 20 laps to go, Bud Kaeding was up to 5th and Tyler to 8th. Eight laps later, Hines had lengthened his lead to 7 seconds. Roger Rager brought out the final yellow flag for a flat tire on lap 90. On the restart, Hines drove away again and Kaeding moved up to 4th. When the checkers fell, it was Hines in the lead followed by Cottle, Josh Wise and Bud Kaeding. Mat Neely took 5th and veteran Paul White 6th. Points leader Brian Tyler took 7th. Tyler’s lead over Kaeding is now only 17 points. Third in the points, Aaron Pierce finished 13th. Fourth in points Wayne Reutiman Jr. came in 15th in a backup car. Fifth in points Dave Steel finished 11th.
