Homestead Silver Crown Wrap

Tyler Wins Exciting Silver Crown Race
Homestead, Fla. – Brian Tyler won a race so close at Homestead-Miami Speedway Saturday, that second place Aaron Pierce

rolled his car into victory lane. Pierce started on the pole with Bud Kaeding outside

In the early laps of the race, the two pulled away from the track. PJ Jones made a charge but got loose and saved the car from hitting the wall in a tight battle. There were several tight battles on the track with side by side racing. The cars basically split into two packs on the superspeedway during the long green runs. In a somewhat repeat of 2005, hard charging Brian Tyler started 7th but patiently charged to the front.

On the final laps of the race, Tyler and Pierce traded the lead battling in a scene of an IRL race at Texas or a wild night at Eldora. Bryan Tyler edged out Aaron Pierce for the victory although Pierce beat Tyler to victory lane. The Indiana native was informed of his finishing position and his car was rolled out of victory lane and Tyler rolled in.

The new North Carolina native celebrated by dousing his crew with bubbly.

Must See TV
If you did not see this race in person, it is a must see. The Homestead race will be broadcast on the Outdoor Channel, Saturday April 8th at 5pm. 13 cars took the green flag but 10 of the 13 were engaged in relatively tight battles. The battles for first and second were entertaining. I will say that this was the closest Silver Crown race for the lead I have seen in a while. It will definitely be worth watching.

Tyler Leads Points
After two events, Bryan Tyler now has the points lead. Aaron Pierce and Dave Steele are tied for second, just six points behind Tyler. Bud Kaeding and Tim Barber round out the top five in points.

No Sellout but Good Show
No, the grandstands were not packed for Saturday’s Silver Crown race

but those who were not there missed a good show. The side by side racing and close finish caused Grand Am and IRL teams to come to a standstill. Crews, fans and media members were glued to the jumbotron to watch the final laps

The series was relatively ignored by the other competitors this weekend but turned heads in the final laps.

Clean Feature
There were no incidents in the race Saturday. The yellow flag flew for a smoking car and another car spraying liquid. Other than that, the race was clean and green.
