USAC to Pour It On
With the coming out party for the Premier Racing Association, expect USAC to up the ante in the PR department. The Miami Herald also had a misprint in today’s edition calling the Silver Crown Series “sprint cars.” USAC has already corrected that mistake. The series has scheduled post qualifying and post race news conferences in an effort to get a piece of the national media’s attention. The national media have converged on Homestead this weekend covering the opening weekend for the IndyCar and Indy Pro Series. USAC will also share the spotlight with the Rolex Sports Car Series. As Gene Simmons put it in today’s Miami Herald, (paraphrasing) any publicity is good publicity.

The Premier Racing Association Coming Out Party
The PRA unveiled their Big Car Series National Championship Thursday. As we have previously reported, Jason Smith and Jason McCord will head the series that will take the green flag on May 17 at Indianapolis Raceway Park. The series released their schedule Thursday. May 17: Indianapolis Raceway Park, Indianapolis, IN June 13: Illiana Motor Speedway, Schererville, IN July 5: Indianapolis Raceway Park, Indianapolis, IN August 9: Music City Motorplex, Nashville, TN August 15: Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford Springs, CT *October 25: South Georgia Motorsports Park, Cecil, GA *December 13: USA International Speedway, Lakeland, FL * Final details TBA The series could have involvement with several NASCAR drivers and is working on a TV package.

Group Working Hard on Hoosier Hundred
Despite what was reported in today’s Indianapolis Star, the group promoting the Hoosier Hundred told me Thursday that they are working hard with the State of Indiana to insure that the race will be run in May. Expect an all out effort to make it happen. I plan on being there this May and I hope that you will be too.

Chesson Partakes of Cold Pizza
ESPN’s TV crews were at the speedway this morning for a live interview with P.J. Chesson on Cold Pizza.

TK Fast Early

Tony Kannan was the fastest car in the early IndyCar practice sessions.

Open Wheels Not the Only Show

The Rolex Sport Car Series is here this weekend

The series is utilizing the road course as well as turns 3&4 and the front stretch.

This car hit the wall hard during practice. (I know nice shot of the rental van Blake.)
