Lazy Thursday aka World Metrological Day
Homestead, Fla. – It was a relaxing morning for the USAC Silver Crown teams. Most spent the morning in their hotels or relaxing. Teams started filing into the speedway around noon. Rain hit the track around noon. The forecast calls for more scattered thunderstorms but the precipitation will clear off Friday afternoon and bring cooler temperatures ranging from the 70s to the 40s. Practice is scheduled from 5-6pm today.
SAFER Installed in Milwaukee This Week
Crews in Milwaukee are working to install the SAFER Barrier System into the historic speedway this week. All Silver Crown pavement tracks in 2006 will SAFER Barriers.
Knoxville Nationals Driver Drives this Weekend
Jeff Dodge kicks off his Indy Pro Series career this weekend at Homestead. The Fast Track to Indy driver was featured on the Indy Pro Series website.

Helio Gains Miami Attention
Helio Castroneves took Martina Hingis (tennis star) for a ride Wednesday on a street version of an IRL IndyCar Series car. The ride was featured in today’s edition of the Miami Herald.

Our Open Wheelers will race on my favorite Cup track this weekend. Both the Busch Series and Cup Series are at Bristol Motor Speedway. The Busch folks get going Friday with practice at 1:45pm eastern. The green flag falls on their race at 12 noon Saturday. Here is a list of Busch and Cup entries.
