Getting TV is Ready for Reunification
An article in today’s Indianapolis Star www.indystar.com by Curt Calvin and Steve Ballard says that ABC/ESPN would want first right of refusal if the IRL and CCWS series reunited. According to the article, the contract that laid out the TV path to reunification was signed in 2004 and still exists today.
Vice President and executive producer at IMS Productions, Buddy McAtee says he has been making plans in case the two series are unified for the 2007 season. The article in the Star says that McAtee is working on the premise there would be between 20 and 24 races in the unified series. The TV brain behind the IRL’s broadcasts says he is pushing for the IRL to develop a Friday night race package much like the NFL did for Monday nights. He said track officials at Richmond, Va., Nashville, Tenn., and Kentucky are interested in the concept.

Will AJ Foyt bump Tracy Hines out of the 14?
The Indianapolis Star also reported today that AJ Foyt IV is headed to drive the No. 14 for FitzBradshaw Racing after leaving the Akins Motorsports this week. The problem is, fellow Open Wheeler Tracy Hines is currently in the No. 14.
Foyt had a rough go of it driving for Akins Motorsports but Ray Evernham tells the Scene Daily that the problems on the track were not necessarily Foyt’s fault. The Scene also says AJ Foyt may end up driving some ARCA races later this season.
Busch Chirps, then Barks his way to the Pole
A little over a week after Kyle Busch was accused of chirping his tires in Richmond, Virginia local police, the young ball-o-fire was barking on his radio following his pole grabbing run for Saturday nights Cup race at Phoenix.
The wild youngster then climbed on the pit wall and waved as he reportedly was booed. I guess, chirping, barking and waving wildly is better than snow angles. Look for a recap of the Cup race Saturday night on this website.

NASCAR Yet to Speak with Nicole Launders
In a story dated at midnight this morning, the Associated Press is reporting that NASCAR has yet to speak to Greg Biffle's girlfriend, Nicole Lunders about her confrontation with Kurt Busch's fiancée, Eva Bryan at Texas almost two weeks ago.
Nicole Lunders went to Busch’s pit to talk with Eva Bryan following a wreck between Biffle and Busch. As we have previously reported, Nicole Lunders and Eva Bryan have no problems with each other, Launders was just upset because she feared for her boyfriend’s safety.
