Not So Fast! 2.0

Not So Fast! 2.0
Welcome to the upgraded version of Not So Fast! This weekend is so full of good games; we have no choice but to pick more games that we usually do.

20. Oklahoma 2-0 at 7. Oregon 2-0
Remember the Sooners? They almost dropped one at home to UAB. Meanwhile the quackattack edged out a very good Fresno State team and beat Stanford. The funky uniforms win in this battle of undefeated teams. Ducks by at least 10.

UAB 1-1 at 8. Georgia 2-0
Watson Brown always has talent on his team, which should be undefeated. Georgia played well against South Carolina. UAB is good and will be one of the best teams in C-USA but Georgia is better and will end up near the top of the SEC. UAB will keep it close but at some point Georgia will pull away to win by 7 or more.

Miami 1-1 at 1. Louisville 2-0
I ranked Louisville high because I thought they would be up at the top at the end of the season. With the demise of Texas, they are now No. 1. If they want to stay there and have a chance of going undefeated, they must beat Miami. I took the Hurricanes out of my poll after their loss to Florida State. Miami is no slouch but Louisville will prove me right and win by at least 7.

NC State 1-1 at Southern Miss 1-1
The Wolfpack are going down. The Golden Eagles defense will score at least two touchdowns to win by 14 or more.

Arkansas 1-1 at Vanderbilt 0-2
If Arkansas thinks they are going to Nashville to play the worst team in the SEC, they are sorely mistaken. The Hogs had a pretty good start against a more talented and deeper USC. Arkansas is good but Vanderbilt is the best two-loss team in America. They performed well in the first half at Michigan and they scared the ever lovin poop out of Alabama at Bama. The Crimson Tide won by only 3. Vanderbilt will get their first win of the season beating Arkansas by 3 or more in a close game.

15. Michigan 2-0 at 11. Notre Dame 2-0
Notre Dame has impressed me more this season than Michigan. That’s why I am picking ND by at least 7.

17. Nebraska 2-0 at 13. USC 2-0
Can you say overrated? If this game were not on ABC, would it really be the game that College Gameday chose to broadcast from? Half of these games that I am picking this week are going to be closer than this one. Nebraska has beaten powder puffs Nichols State and Louisiana Tech while USC has tested themselves with Arkansas. USC will not be national champions this season but they will beat Nebraska badly, by 21 points or more.

12. LSU 2-0 at 6. Auburn 2-0
This will be one of the best battles of the week. The hungry Tigers come to the plains in hopes of upsetting Tigers er War Eagles. This should be where College Gameday is but then again this game is on CBS. Can we say ESPN = Essentially the Self Promotion Network? But I digress, Auburn by 7 in a great game.

4. Florida 2-0 at 18. UTK 2-0
I thought my placement of UTK (The University of Tennessee at Knoxville) in the polls was too low when the Vols slapped around Cal. Their performance against Air Force proved to me that Big Orange might have trouble when the Florida Gators come to the hill. Florida has beaten two good C-USA teams and will take a bite out of the “T.” Gators by 10 or more.

22. Iowa State 2-0 at 2. Iowa 2-0
This game is so big in the state of Iowa that promoters of this weekend’s USAC races at Iowa Speedway moved the event to Sunday to help free up the interstate going to Iowa City from traffic. Iowa slapped around Montana and then barely left with its shirts after a bad Syracuse team took Iowa to two overtimes before the Hawkeyes finally won last weekend. Iowa State edged out Toledo and beat UNLV by 6. Neither team is looking too impressive right now but this game is big if you live in the state of Iowa. This one is for bragging rights. Did I rank Iowa (2) too high in my poll? Probably. But Not So Fast! Iowa may not be worthy of No. 1 but they will edge beat Iowa State by at least 7 and we will see a great race Sunday at Iowa Speedway.

The phrase “Not So Fast!” is my tribute to Lee Corso of ESPN. It is not intended to infringe on any copyright laws or trademarks.

Look for my rankings Sunday night.
