Not So Fast! for Sept. 7
Not So Fast!
11 Penn State at 15 Notre Dame
Joe Pa comes into South Bend looking to show that 2005 was not a fluke. Notre Dame is good but I think Penn State will turn some heads when it narrowly beats the Irish on their home field.
Cal at 33 Minnesota
Cal fell out of my rankings last week when they choked to UTK. They have a chance to redeem themselves against the Golden Gophers. The Gophers have a chance that they are for real and are better than their early season creampuff schedule (with the exception of Cal) suggests. Cal will not win the national championship but neither will the Gophers who are suspect in their receiving corps. Cal by at least seven or more.
? Washington at 24 Oklahoma
How did I not rank Washington? This was a brain fart on my part. Washington will prove that I am loony when they play an Oklahoma team that almost lost to UAB. UAB is good but Oklahoma should have played better if they want to be Big 12 champs. OK will not be ok when Washington gets done with them. Stop Peterson and the Huskies will win by more then seven.
17 Texas Tech at 16 UTEP
This showdown will not get a lot of ink but surely it will have the attention of the Texas Tech swim team. UTEP will have a breakout game and win by ten.
23 Ohio State at 1 Texas
This is the game of the week. Some may think that I have disrespected Ohio State with a ranking of 23rd and inflated Texas with my number 1 ranking. There is a reason for this, Ohio State does not have enough convicts on their team this season to beat Texas. Texas will win by fourteen or more and remain number 1 on my poll.
12 Georgia vs 14 South Carolina
Did I rank South Carolina too high? Georgia has an opportunity to prove me wrong if they can figure out how to celebrate scoring a touchdown after they have crossed the goal line. South Carolina can prove me right by beating the Bullies. The Ole Ball coach can pull an upset here or there but Not So Fast. Georgia will find some super glue, there will be no more end zone fumbling celebrations and the Dawgs will win by at least a touchdown.
