Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman 6,7,8/ Dale Earnhardt Jr. Wins at Richmond
Stewart, Edwards, Newman 6,7,8; Jr. Wins at Richmond
Three Open Wheelers made the top ten tonight at Richmond and gained valuable points. Tony Stewart moved into second place in the points standings with a sixth place finish tonight.
Carl Edwards recovered from a spin early in the race to finish 7th. Ryan Newman rebounded from a string of bad luck to finish 8th. Ken Schrader quietly gained two positions in the points finishing 16th. The night was not so great for otyher Open Wheelers. Kasey Kahne went down five laps when a loose spark plug sent him into garage early in the race. He came back one the track but had a hard time regaining his lost laps and finished 34th.
Jeff Gordon also faced mechanical problems and had to bring his car behind the wall.
Robby Gordon was running in the top ten until a flat tire sent him into the wall.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the event. It was Jr’s fist Cup win since Chicagoland last season.
