PJ Chesson = Balls O Fire/ Live Video from IMS/ Danica Patrick's Sponsors Sponsor Kentucky Race/ Tyler Walker returns to the WoO

PJ Chesson = Balls O Fire
When PJ Chesson came into the IndyCar Series this spring, the World of Outlaws fans knew the IRL folks would be in for a very entertaining season. Chesson did not disappoint today. Speaking today in a post practice news conference, PJ Chesson let it all hang out. The former WoO star took questions in the beginning about the difference between an IndyCar and a WoO Sprint Car. Chesson said the two are similar as far as drafting and the competition. (Note: I am paraphrasing here)

The aero knowledge I gained from racing a winged sprint car transfers over to an IndyCar. You learn quick how to race after you are getting your ass handed to you week after week by the likes of Sammy Swindell, Steve Kinser and Mark Kinser.

He also admitted that his brother James adapted quicker to a rear engine car faster than he did. Later PJ Chesson was getting questions that were in all honesty, weak. He responded,

"You guys ask the lamest questions I have ever heard."

That set off a few humorous moments. He was asked about the party lifestyle to which he responded:

"This is not like any other sport I have ever competed in. You can't go out till 4am. You have to get your rest to be 100 percent."

PJ is Mr. Entertainment. This will be a fun month. Oh yea, Townsend Bell had the fastest speed of the day at 221.381. Michael Andretti was second at 221.384, Marco Andretti turned in a best time of 221.267. Mr. Entertainment came in at 219.745.

Live Video from IMS
Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the IRL are offering live streaming video of practice over the web for free.

If the service is a hit, you may be able to watch practice and qualifying for other IRL events live for a fee. Right now, it is free but you must fill out a lengthy form and register to view. Here is the Link https://www.iseesports.tv/indy.

Danica Patrick's Sponsors Sponsor Kentucky Race
Meijer, Coca-Cola and Secret will sponsor the IRL race at Kentucky Speedway later this season.

All three companies are sponsors of Danica Patrick.

Tyler Walker returns to the WoO
Former World of Outlaws Gumout champion Tyler Walker returned to the World of Outlaws Sprint Series this weekend. In his second race back with the series Sunday at Huset's Speedway, Walker made his presence known by timing in fastest on the night. Tyler Walker substituted for Sammy Swindell who was in Indiana watching his son Kevin run his second ARCA Re/Max Series race.

"I'm having a blast," said Walker. "I really enjoy it. I can't even describe how much I am enjoying it right now. I felt the tire start to wobble and I thought I was out of tire, more than I was. That's just from being out of sprint cars for a while."

Tyler Walker finished third in the "A" main. Brooke Tatnell won the event, his first win of the 2006 WoO season.

Don't Quit Your Day Job Kasey
Kasey Kahne will work as a ticket seller for Kansas Speedway Tuesday, May 16. Kahne won last season's Cup event at Kansas. Besides answering some ticket sales calls, Kahne will personally autograph all tickets he sells that day. Kasey Kahne will also be the featured guest this Sunday on Wind Tunnel.

R.E. Technologies gives History a Tune Up
Legendary sprint car driver Ellis Palasini called on his cousin, Chris Santucci and R.E. Technologies to give the famous V-8 Black Widow he piloted for years, a tune up.

Palasini's 22-year racing career resulted in approximately 500 feature wins, several track championships and a couple of track records.

While in the shop, Ellis Palasini ran into fellow driver Sam Swindell who was there to pick up parts for his son Sammy.

The two looked through photographs and talked about old times. Ellis Palasini was successful behind the wheel of sprint, midget and super modified cars throughout the south. He was nominated to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. Palasini now owns a farm in Leland, Mississippi and makes appearances with the famous V-8 Black Widow in his spare time.

Santucci and the R.E. Technologies crew are working on the Black Widow to prepare it for more future appearances at racetracks. Images of the famous V-8 with Ellis Palasini in the R.E. Technologies shop can be seen in the photo section of their website, http://www.retechracing.com/. TV Notes

Wind Tunnel goes the Extra Mile
Since Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain moved to its 9pm eastern slot, it has been hard for me to pry myself from my “Dirty Housewives” (Desperate Housewives) viewing to watch Wind Tunnel. I gave up the ladies Sunday night to watch Wind Tunnel to catch what the Andrettis had to say.

WTwDD did not disappoint as they produced this incredible open about the Andrettis return to the 500 titled Andretti3.

The faux movie promo was golden. Andretti3 takes the viewers through the three generations of Andrettis and their rides at Indy.

It was well produced and conceived.

The promo utilized historic still images as well as footage.

The show also featured high energy opens when returning from commercial that grabbed the viewer’s attention.

I liked Wind Tunnel when it was a almost daily program. While this is not a return to the old format, I do like the energy in the show.

Congratulations to the program’s producers and editors on a great (potentially Emmy material) program. Sunday nights will now be a tough choice for me. Thank goodness for video tape. Now which one do I tape and which one do I watch live?
